I believe that each student should feel loved and seen. As a teacher, I may never know everything that my students go through before they enter my classroom. A writer quoted Aristotle, who said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all” (Degwitz, 2018). With this, my teaching philosophy is “Teach the curriculum and the heart”. I not only want to teach my students science, history, math, and english, but also teach them how to become the best that they can be. For example, reminding my students that they are loved and teaching them to be respectful and responsible is just as important as the math lesson I have planned for that day. I believe that a teacher can teach the curriculum, but the student may never retain anything. Likewise, a teacher who teaches to the heart of the student changes that student’s life forever.
